Main Points of Conversation/ answers to three key questions:
Weaknesses are only undeveloped strengths
Use your strengths to make weaknesses positive-
There's never purity in anyone but if we use our strengths we can do this.
Use strengths of team members for balance of undeveloped strengths. (AKA Weaknesses)
We are Gatherers and collectors of ideas
We are analytical and productive
Knowing strengths of your team can impact your participation/ "job" in the group to maximize potential of the team.
Also, knowing strengths helps build relationships/ perspectives of group. This also applies inter-departmental.
Potential concerns of clashes of people: Clashing could lead to tearing apart or bringing together. Gracie gave an example of how two people can turn a clashing situation into one of helping one another: by valuing each others strengths.
Second Half of Session:
1.
Discussion points from "Did You Know?"
We are relying more on computers for learning - we need to continue to incorporate new technology in our field of education.
There is room for us to be more technologically advanced
With Tech-ed - many students work and attend school simultaniously whcih presents challenges
Education has shifted from memorizing to application and creativity
We are a global community with global communications and skills - we see this in our own staff and student body
We are amidst a technical and cultural revolution
2. Address adapdibility
Teach to develop intellection to be a "self learner" without fear
Teach to "get out of comfort zone"
Acceptance of life long learning for our students
Do not fear failure - it is an open door for improvement
3.Our obligations are:
Model expectations
Convey the messeges in #2
4. Mission vision beliefs goals:
a. We need to continue to offer challenges and new programs, look into the local and global community for program offerings. Administration must be supportive of this.
b. Allow students to bring in expertise and skills.
c. To be aware of our teaching style and be flexible - be ready to change and be reactive. Empathy with acceptance of thought or ideas from others.
d. How are we going to truely open our doors to the public - commercials, post cards, getting to be known to the public. We have done Rely for life, but we could do more for the community. Wearing our shirts, talking our school "up" to others. Be guest speakers about our school.
How can we use our top strengths to achieve our schools Mission,Vision, Beliefs, and Goals?
We are known as gatherers of information and turning it into one of multiple cohesive pieces of information - this helps us to narrow the focus for others.
As communicators we are able to relate to our students and help them reah their potential to succeed.
Through intellection, we share with our students the joy of thinking and participating in open discussions.
Coonectedness reflects our willingness to invite the entire community to participate in the development of our school.
We need to be achievers to compete with leading countries with diligence in the global community.
